In case you just can’t wait until next February for Palm Springs Modernism Week, you can get a foretaste in early October by joining Docomomo’s National Tour Day October 5 – 8, 2012.

The Palm Springs fall jaunt is part of a DOCOMOMO (an acronym for the international group that pursues the DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the MOdern MOvement) National Tour taking place on the Columbus Day holiday weekend October 5 – 8, 2012. Sightings include the midcentury Frey House II, The Russell House and the Burgess House as well as the 1925 Mediterranean Revival home, the O’Donnell House, one of only two structures in Palm Springs that is listed on the National Register of Historic Properties.

Palm Springs is now famed for its Modern fabric (examplified in the Kaufman House, shown above: image courtesy of Modernism Week); but did you know about Claremont’s? Find out more about that, at a symposium about the midcentury legacy in Claremont, featuring experts in the field Barbara Lamprecht, Alan Hess and Hicks Stone. For more information, click here.
