MOMA’s current architects Diller Scofio + Renfro caused an outcry earlier this year when they recommended tearing down the neighboring Folk Art Museum. This shocked fans of the Folk Art Museum, and ruptured a longtime friendship between the architects on the two buildings, prompting some people to suggest the architects should have said no to the commission rather than decimate their friends work.
