Hollywood Boycotts Beverly Hills Hotel

Hosted by

Kim and John discuss Hollywood's boycott of the Beverly Hills and Bel Air Hotels. Both hotels are properties in the Dorchester Collection, a company owned by an arm of the Brunei government. Brunei has recently instituted Sharia law which includes stoning, amputation and other brutal punishments against the LGBT community and people who commit adultery or sodomy. Hollywood luminaries, including Jay Leno and Ellen DeGeneres, have picketed and many organizations which have traditionally held lavish events at the Beverly Hills Hotel, have canceled those plans. Among the canceled events is the Women in Entertainment luncheon and the 'Night before the Oscars' party. These types of events bring millions of dollars of revenue into the hotel. The hope among those boycotting is that the sultan will be forced to sell the properties or revoke sharia law in his country.
