New Rule Changes Make the Emmys More Web Friendly

Your favorite YouTube star could be up for an Emmy this year. The Television Academy announced several new and re-designed categories this week that allow content from web producers like Maker Studios and YouTube Red to compete in a category called Outstanding Short Form Series. These categories are for streaming or broadcast shows with at least six episodes that run about 15 minutes each. There are also entirely new categories for the Best Actor and Best Actress in these short series, which will mark the first time an online talent could potentially receive TV's highest honor. The changes are meant to help more accurately reflect the way younger viewers are watching television.
