Stephen Colbert Returns to Television

Hosted by and

The first night of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as host premiered to strong ratings, beating Fallon's  Tonight Show on NBC. But on night two, those ratings dipped, and Fallon's show, with popular guest Justin Timberlake, took the lead. It may be too soon to tell, but this first week it looks like Fallon and Colbert are echoing a similar dynamic as Leno and Letterman, the former being the host of the people, and the latter being slightly more academic. Colbert has lots of charm as a host, but in these first few days, is still looking to find his legs. In the upcoming days, he's got a wide range of interesting bookings -- from actors to writers to politicians, including tonight's appearance by Vice President Joe Biden.
