The Toronto International Film Festival Begins

Hosted by

The Toronto International Film Festival -- with its massive slate of studio and indie films, genre pictures, and documentaries -- gets underway today. Kim and John talk about some high profile movies to screen there including Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave, Jason Reitman's Labor Day and John Wells's movie, August: Osage County. Also at TIFF are a number of films looking for distributors. One is Jon Stewart's directorial debut, Rosewater, which will screen footage for potential buyers. Behind the scenes there's a conflict afoot between the actresses and director of the Cannes favorite, Blue is the Warmest Color. At a recent press conference the women said they wouldn't work with the director again because of the brutal conditions and treatment they endured on set. This lesbian love story has an epic sex scene for which it's getting an NC17 rating.
