KCRW’s acclaimed music documentary podcast, “Lost Notes,” returns in February 2024. The new season will take you deep into LA’s soul music legacy, with eight essential and underheard stories presented by KCRW’s Novena Carmel and music scholar Michael Barnes. We’re offering this special preview episode in advance of the series’ relaunch.

Long before “Tainted Love” became an ‘80s anthem, it was the B-side to a forgotten 1965 single by LA’s own Gloria Jones. In this special preview episode of Lost Notes, co-hosts Michael Barnes and Novena Carmel trace the song’s journey from a warehouse floor to the annals of pop history. And they’ll school you on the low-key brilliance of its original singer.
