Once, not too long ago, I was invited to go on a press junket – one of those all-paid trips to a place where the only thing you have to do is walk around and manage an interested expression on your face – to the country of Azerbaijan, which is on the west banks of the Caspian Sea and is an interesting place, actually, but blisteringly hot in August, which is when we went, and not great with the wi-fi and the general western comfort stuff....
