Anaheim Bans Short-Term Rentals, Period

Hosted by

As the summer tourism season ramps up for the 4th of July weekend, many visitors who plan to travel to Disneyland will use services such as AirBnB to find affordable lodging. But those days may soon be over after the Anaheim City Council last week decided to ban so-called short-term rental (STR) units from the city. It's a wholescale eradication, and officials are giving residents who currently have a permit to operate such units 18 months to phase out of the business or face heavy fines. An unlikely coalition of conservatives, labor unions, and homeowners pushed for the ban--but will STR advocates take Anaheim to court?
