Last week, the Anaheim City Council passed a resolution expressing their support for the Anaheim City School District to convert Palm Lane Elementary into a charter school if parents get enough signatures. Those parents are the first in Orange County to invoke California's Parent Trigger Law, which allows parents in low-performing elementary schools to essentially boot out the school district and allow outside organizations to transform the school into a charter. Teachers and district officials in Anaheim have vociferously fought against the move, arguing parents are being misled by outside groups; parents counter they just want the best education for their kids. With the parents getting outside support from GOP officials across the county, though, do opponents have a point?
