Calls For Transparency at the OC DA

Hosted by

The Santa Ana Police Department faces two civil lawsuits stemming from a March 2013 incident in which they shot and killed one man and seriously wounded another. But the case has also exposed a policy by the Orange County District Attorney's office to withhold information from the public in officer-related shootings if they deem it that such disclosures compromise their own criminal prosecution of related cases. It's not a policy practiced by many DAs in Southern California, and is even unpopular among police chiefs, who'd rather have as much information publicly disclosed about officer-involved shootings as possible to dissuade conspiracy theories from bubbling up. Will OC DA Tony Rackauckas ever change his policy?
