Can OC Keep Its Young People Home?

As 2013 comes to an end, a disturbing Orange County trend shows no signs of abating: a continued loss of young people. US Census figures showed that OC lost over 50,000 people in the 18-44 category in the past decade, putting the county at a faster aging rate than the state or the nation. A think tank points to the lack of public transportation, traditional downtowns and other hipster factors as explaining the brain drain, but is there something more fundamental at work. Or is this just the Orange County way?
