Can the OC Register's New Publisher Save the Paper?

A former casino executive plans to right Orange County's paper of record.

The problems for the Orange County Register continue, with news last week that corporate is asking employees to give an hour of their time to return calls to irate customers who haven't received their papers for about a month and offering $150 VISA cards for anyone who helps deliver papers. This is the reality new publisher Rich Mirman must deal with after taking over from Register CEO Aaron Kushner. Mirman became famous as a casino executive for Harrah's attuned to the needs of customers. Can he bring his magic to the Register, or is he just rearranging the proverbial deck chairs on the Titanic?
