For Whom the Bill Tolls?

Hosted by

Earlier this year, Fullerton-area Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva introduced legislation that would direct the state's Department of Veterans Affairs to try and establish Orange County's first-ever veterans' cemetery. Orange County is the largest California county without a veterans' cemetery, so the effort is seen as long-overdue and has the support of vets' groups and politicians from both parties. In addition, the Irvine City Council passed a resolution last week expressing its support of the bill. But is there more at play with the efforts of Quirk-Silva — who's chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee — other than mere patriotism?
