Janet Nguyen's Donor Scandal

How an FPPC investigation might harm the OC supervisor's political career.

One of Orange County's tightest political races this campaign cycle has been for the 34th Senate District, which represents most of central Orange County. Facing off against each other is former state assemblymember Jose Solorio and current OC supervisor Janet Nguyen. Mudslinging between the two sides has been especially nasty, but now Nguyen is in the hot seat after a California Fair Political Practices committee investigation has revealed that six of her past donors admitted to illegally laundering donations to their campaigns. Will this harm Nguyen's chances—or worse?
