Santa Ana becomes OC's first sanctuary city

Hosted by

Last week, the Santa Ana City Council passed a resolution declaring itself a sanctuary city, becoming the first in Orange County to do so. The measure was largely symbolic, but one asked for by residents who have increasingly fought the council over the continued presence of ICE in the city jail. Absent from the 5-0 vote was councilwoman Michele Martinez and Mayor Miguel Pulido, who councilmembers made sure to note in meeting minutes that his no-show was unexcused. What will happen next in this most Mexican of cities?
