Negotiations are currently under way between the Anaheim City Council and Angels owner Arte Moreno to keep the baseball team in the city. The council has given him three more years to decide whether he wants to stay or decamp to another city, and is proposing to let him develop the land around Angels Stadium and keep all taxes and revenue from any leases in exchange for him refurbishing the current ballpark, or building a new one. The back-and-forth has unleashed a nasty war of words between Anaheim mayor Tom Tait, who says his council members are doing a giveaway for Moreno, and his opponents, who are defending the deal and trying to paint Tait and his supporters as reactionaries. How much should Anaheim do to keep the Angels in Anaheim?
