Before reaching the US, Celia and her family become moneyless at the border.

She grew up there with her two brothers while her father worked in the US. It took him eight years to save enough money to bring his children over, legally. But plane tickets for four was expensive, so they traveled from through Guatemala and Mexico on bus.
"The last day when we got to TJ, Tijuana, my dad didn’t have very much money, " Celia said.
Eventually, her family crossed into the US and settled in Los Angeles. But she dreams of retiring in El Salvador.
