Smashing Protons and Looking Smashing

The Large Hadron Collider is the world's largest particle accelerator, and when it gears up to be fully operational this summer, it will help answer questions physicists have been wrestling with since Einstein's day. Studio 360 commissioned the novelist Lydia Millett (Oh Pure Radiant Heart) to write a short sci-fi story in honor of the Collider's "grand opening." Kurt Andersen talks to physicist Jana Levin about the conspiracy theories swirling around the LHC (can a black hole emerge from the experiments?) Also in the hour, Kurt gets indispensable fashion advice from Simon Doonan. The creative director of Barneys New York says ditch your humdrum workwear and don your party clothes on a regular basis. Doonan's new book is Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fabulous You.
