Alex Gibney is a very prolific documentarian. He’s directed “Going Clear” and “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room,” and his films often delve into corruption at the highest levels.

This year was a big one, even by his standards. Gibney was in the middle of making his two-part HBO series “Agents of Chaos,” about Russian interference in U.S. politics, when he dived into another film about the Trump administration’s pandemic response. Working in secret, Gibney’s team devised a method of sending cameras to record interviews remotely. He was determined to have both films ready to go before the election.

Gibney talks about how he pulled it off, working remotely with his co-directors and camera team to land and record interviews with government officials and others with inside knowledge.
