Endeavor, the massive media company that owns the talent agency WME, as well as UFC and models and bull riders, is filing to go public. The huge move will have massive repercussions throughout the industry.
And Endeavor’s move comes just as another agency, UTA, suggested that they were ready to start negotiating with writers in the bitter battle over packaging fees and self-production--both things Endeavor is not going to want to give up.
Industry watchers were keeping an eye on two premieres at Cannes: ‘Rocketman’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’ They are the only two big studio movies coming out all summer that aren’t sequels or spin-offs or otherwise a part of a bigger franchise. ‘Rocketman’ is the Elton John musical biopic, and the other is Quentin Tarantino’s first movie without Harvey Weinstein. Tarantino has a massive fan base, but he’s also still facing questions over his treatment of Uma Thurman during ‘Kill Bill’ and his treatment of female characters in this newest film.
