Michael Schneider of TV Guide magazine and KCRW's The Spin-off talks with The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd. They discuss her career arc from starting out in the 1970's with B-movie mogul Roger Corman to becoming the "First Lady of Sci-Fi." Hurd reflects on her youth as an unpopular geek girl as the origins for her love of all things comics, horror, fantasy and sci-fi. She talks about being a woman in the entertainment business and refers to Sheryl Sandberg's book, Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, saying that at some point she had to choose between being liked and being respected. She chose respect.
