Multi-hyphenate Casey Wilson graduated from New York University (after meeting her best friend and writing partner June Diane Raphael in a clown class) and studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade before her big break, getting cast in the 2008 season of Saturday Night Live. Since then, she's written multiple projects with Raphael both in and outside the studio system, including Bride Wars and her latest feature, Ass Backwards, which premiered this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Wilson also stars as Penny Hartz in ABC's Happy Endings. She talks about the difference between writing independently versus for a studio, why optimism is funny, and how Happy Endings was inspired by The Social Network.
