Sundance has been good for writer-director Debra Granik (Down to the Bone). She won all three time she competed. Her newest, Winter’s Bone, got the Grand Jury Prize this year. It's the importance of film festivals.

Granik discusses adapting Daniel Woodrell’s novel for the big screen, the impact of participating and winning at Sundance, casting the young and gifted Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role, and her own quest for authenticity in the portrayal of life in the Ozarks.
