The Treatment

Robert Towne

For over 30 years, screenwriting icon Robert Towne (The Last Detail, Chinatown, Shampoo) has wanted to adapt John Fante's melancholy LA-based novel, Ask the Dust, for the movies. He not only accomplished the task, he directed the story of ambition, acid tongues and assimilation. The man who created dreams for others talks about making his own dreams come true.
