Wild Up
after it’s over, it’s gone in the air.

UCLA Nimoy Theater
For this concert, Wild Up becomes an improvising ensemble, moving through music by a wide range of composers, traditions, and sonic lineages. Anchored by a new work from saxophonist and composer Patrick Shiroishi, the program opens a gateway between jazz, improvisation, and contemporary classical music: a living, volatile alchemy of sound shaped by Shiroishi with music director Christopher Rountree.
Taking its title from jazz visionary Eric Dolphy’s reflection on improvisation — “…after it’s over, it’s gone in the air.” — this program explores music as a spontaneous, unrepeatable act of imagination.
