ABOUT THE FILMS:

“Invention 13,” 2026, Dirs. Conor Oberst and Shawn Foree, 15 Mins, USA

“Invention 13” was shot on Super 16mm film over the course of four sub-freezing nights in January 2026 in Omaha, Nebraska. The short film stars Emory Cohen (REBEL RIDGE, THE OA, MARTY SUPREME), newcomer Olivia Howard and pro skater Nelly Morville. It also features a voiceover from a famous friend and collaborator of Conor’s. They worked with a crew of forty people and three dogs. The filmmakers relied on the use of practical effects and hand drawn animation to bring this vision to life. The film’s accompanying soundtrack was composed by Bright Eyes member Nathaniel Walcott.

A psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby-Doo as directed by Mario Bava? Any of the above could describe this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home and comes face-to-face with evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano and other ghoulish visions.
