DAIMATSU: Live Electronic Music by Carl Stone

Japanese American Cultural & Community Center
Daimatsu is an electronic music performance spun from field recordings captured in both the US and Japan. It incorporates elements such as shomyo chant recorded during the Goma Fire Ceremony at Koyasan Temple, Tibetan tingsha cymbals, instruments from Japan’s gagaku court orchestra, and the sound of water boiling in preparation for tea, alongside secular field recordings from Tokyo and Gifu. Carl Stone mixes these elements in performance to create a unique sound-space atmosphere, inspired by the Japanese garden at JACCC.
