Held in Sound

​Held in Sound takes place on Saturday, November 21, at Shunkō-in Temple in Kyoto, Japan. Curated with KCRW, semi permanent × teenage engineering, this two-hour listening experience brings sounds, spoken word, silence, tea, shadow, and seasonality into a carefully held room. The experience will be cut live to an original playback disc using teenage engineering’s APC–2, a real-time professional record-cutting system. Held in Sound is designed as a resonant coda: time to listen closely, revisit what has moved, and let the season enter the work. Participation is intentionally limited. The recording happens once, in the room, and becomes a physical trace of an experience that cannot be repeated. What remains is not documentation alone, but the attention shared while it was made. Listening becomes a shared form of care.
