The Arsonist at the Skylight Theatre

Passive complicity has never been so much fun. This fiery new take on Frisch’s post WWII classic, The Arsonists, comes to the Skylight Theatre from an award-winning creative team led by Luke Harlan (The Gilded Age), Andrew Hawkins (Old Show Queens), and Jeff Marx (Tony Award, Avenue Q, music/lyrics). This headline-relevant commentary shines with our “in the moment” nightmares on contemporary denial and political apathy. Arsonists have begun setting fires in neighboring towns. But that could never happen here—and certainly not in the Biedermann’s home. Then a stranger appears at the front door. Everyone sees it coming—no one does anything to stop it. Not even the Greek chorus. The Arsonists is an absurdly funny and quietly chilling modern parable about what happens when our desire to be good prevents us from doing good. What follows is an exhilarating satire of self-deception, and a look at the remarkable human capacity to ignore the obvious. The Arsonists opens at 8pm on Thursday, September 3, and runs at 8pm Thurs – Sat; 5pm Sat; 2pm Sun through Sept 20, 2026. Skylight Theatre is located at 1816 ½ North Vermont, LA, 90027. Street parking or local pay lots. Tickets are $45; $25 for Seniors/Students.
