On Sunday, September 27, Long Beach celebrates the 100th birthday and enduring legacy of John Coltrane with TRANE AT 100: A Centennial Celebration of John Coltrane, live at Roscoe’s Jazz Lounge from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
The ensemble features Dr. Teodross Avery, tenor and soprano saxophones; Kevin O’Neal, bass and Music Director; Robert Turner, piano; Robert Miller, drums; Pablo Cologero, flute and bass clarinet; James Love, vocals; actress Mechelle LaChaux; and producer, actor, poet and MC narrator Robert J. Carmack, MFA. David Cousins serves as Technical Director.
The program brings Coltrane’s music into an intimate club setting through live jazz, vocals, spoken word and dramatic storytelling, including music associated with the Johnny Hartman collaboration and selections spanning Coltrane’s extraordinary musical journey.
