David Cole is a professor of law at Georgetown Law and the national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union. He is also a legal affairs correspondent for the Nation and a contributor to the New York Review of Books. Cole is co-author of Less Safe, Less Free: Why We Are Losing the War on Terror and The Torture Memos: Rationalizing the Unthinkable, and author of Engines of Liberty: The Power of Citizen Activists to Make Constitutional Law. From 1985-1990, he served as a staff attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights.
