Todd DeMitchell
Professor of education and justice studies at the University of New HampshireProfessor of Education and the Lamberton Professor in the UNH Justice Studies Program. He is serving as a Scholarly Coach with the 2013 UNH Writing Academy. Dr. DeMitchell received his B.A. and M.A.T. degrees from LaVerne College, an M.A. from University of California at Davis, and his doctorate from University of Southern California. For his post-doctoral work, Dr. DeMitchell served as a visiting scholar at Harvard University. He studies the impact of court cases and other legal mechanisms on schools, school liability, and adequate supervision. In addition to his research in this area, Dr. DeMitchell has two decades of experience in K-12 as a teacher, principal and superintendent. He has published more than 120 articles/chapters and four books. His most recent books are Negligence: What Principals Need to Know to Avoid Liability (Roman & Littlefield Education, 2006) and Sexual Orientation, Public Schools, and the Law (Education Law Association, 2007).
