I loved the movie “500 Days of Summer” and I’m not surprised to see it making many Top 10 lists for the year. For today’s Guest DJ set, we hostedScott Neustadter, who co-wrote the indie hit film. The movie was recently nominated for a Golden Globe and was released on DVD yesterday. It is based on Scott’s real life romance, so I wasn’t surprised to hear his reflections on love and relationships – both the good and the bad – in his Guest DJ set, from the Talking Heads track he considers “the most unheralded love song ever written” to the upbeat Beach Boys classic that hides its melancholy in beautiful harmonies. Scott also shares the music he listens to for creative inspiration and the track that got him past a paralyzing fear of moving to LA to pursue his career as a screenwriter.

Scott’s Guest DJ Project set is available streaming, for download and as a podcast (w/ a transcript) here

We also hosted “500 Days” actorJoseph Gordon Levitt on the Guest DJ Project earlier this year.

Last but not least, today’s guest on The Treatment with Elvis Mitchellis “Up in the Air” Director Jason Reitman, who was the very first guest on KCRW’s Guest DJ Project! Hear his set
