On one of the hottest days of the year, we were treated to a steamy mix by New York’s leading purveyors of Afrobeat — Antibalas.
The 11 members were in rare form this morning, joking around while getting ready to perform from the Village Studios, as we prepare for the summer pledge drive back in the basement.
They are a well-oiled machine. I love watching them while they play because they need to keep steady eye contact for that fluid beat — each musical nuance has to be met and conquered. These people play like a one man band!
