Book Recommendations from Bands on KCRW: 2012

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to settle down with a good book unless I’m on a plane, on vacation or over the holidays. During those times, I try to squeeze in one or two if I can (I read fast!).

But I’m always looking for recommendations on things to read and I thought what better resource than the bands that pass through our studios?

I cornered a few folks after their live sessions to ask about their favorite books. What I got was a really interesting mix. It’s nice to know that Kimbra and I share the same favorite book! Check it out:

Alabama Shakes Heath Fogg
“The Sisters Brothers”
Santigold Santigold The Wind Up Bird Chronicle”
The Afghan Whigs Greg Dulli “Born In The Year of the Butterfly Knife”
Stars Torquill Campbell “The Red House”
Kimbra Kimbra  “Even Cowgirls Get the Blues”
Bombay Bicycle Club Jack Steadman “Selected Odes of Pablo Neruda”
Matthew Dear Matthew Dear “Motherless Brooklyn”
Divine Fits Britt Daniel “The Great Gatsby”
Band of Skulls Russell Marsden “Life”
Andrew Bird  Andrew Bird “1491”
Menahan Street Band Tommy Bennecker Musicophilia”
Cate Le Bon Cate Le Bon “Slaughterhouse-Five”
Choir of Young Believers Jannis Joya Makrigiannis “Ask the Dusk”
Tennis Patrick Moore “Inherent Vice”
Milagres Kyle Wilson “Letters to a Young Poet”
