I first met Charlotte Day Wilson as she sat quietly on our studio floor, with her fellow Canadians BadBadNotGood prior to their 2017 live set on MBE. She sang on a few tracks that day and I was floored by her strong, smoky vocals coupled with a nonchalant approach. She’s star power thanks to pure talent — she’s not hamming it up to be in the limelight.

I was so excited to have her back in studio, when she came through town for a sold out show at the Troubadour. We recorded a gorgeous collection of songs from her new EP Stone Woman — including my personal faves “Doubt” and “Nothing New” — along with some older gems.

Enjoy this artist on the rise and listen to the standout live version of “Nothing New” below (check out the full session here).
