Choreographer Kyle Abraham is Our Guest DJ

Written by

Choreographer Kyle Abraham is a rising star in the dance world and is making his Los Angeles debut this weekend at REDCAT with “The Radio Show”.

I was really intrigued by the Pittsburgh native’s song choices before we even started talking to him. I can guarantee you he is the first to pick Prince’s “Batdance”!

Little did I know that Prince played a huge role in him pursuing dancing as a profession.

He also integrates elements from his experiences as a black gay male into his highly personal work and talks about it in reference to Common’s song “U, Black Maybe”.

He also gave us the lowdown on what he has coming up next, including his interpretation of “Boyz n the Hood” and more hip hop-oriented work.
