With platinum hair, more lipstick than I would ever wear and an overall look that seems inspired by David Bowie, Diamond Rings (aka Toronto musician John O) debuted a batch of songs from his forthcoming album “Free Dimensional” on Morning Becomes Eclectic yesterday. He’s really fun to watch and this live preview has me really looking forward to the new record!

The musician, who had a band in tow, admitted to being a “loner at heart” but said he was “getting better”. He also talked to Jason about his early musical influences, including the Fine Young Cannibals’ album “The Raw and the Cooked” (yes, the one with their hit “She Drives Me Crazy”) which he listened to on repeat.

He also played us one of the first songs he ever learned on guitar — “Disarm” by Smashing Pumpkins. He closed out the set with the first Diamond Rings song he ever put out, “All Yr Songs”.

Check it all out here!
