On Saturday night, two KCRW DJs will hit the decks to close out the Chinatown Summer Nights series. Aaron Byrd and Raul Campos will be spinning from 8 to midnight on Central Plaza and its entirely free!

Check out a review of last week’s event from volunteer Taryn Olsen:

“After a scorching set in the heat of the summer afternoon at Sunset Junction, KCRW DJJeremy Sole showed up – cool and collected — to throw down on the turntables for the third installment of Chinatown’s Summer Nights this past Saturday!

Jeremy – the mad master of mashing up unique combinations on the spot (early Michael over a reggae beat anyone?) – did not disapoint! Even with a competing dance floor in the Chinatown mix, Jeremy kept a full floor of bodies moving on a musical journey around the world.

The back alley saw some new food trucks including a rather large double-decker style World Fare food truck, which calls itself a busTAURANT, featuring cuisine from around the world.

As a summertime native to the island of Oahu I was sublimely happy to discover the Tropical Shave Ice Truck! I challenge all to be brave and order the Azuki Beans add-on (or at least the Mochi Balls) to top off your P.O.G. (Lilikoi, Orange, Guava) flavored pile of fluffy ice heaven.

My wishes were answered for a little pick-me-up before dancing time in the form of Drip Bar! The truck carries exquisite coffee from the San Francisco based roasters Blue Bottle Coffee Company and comes equipped with beautiful ceramic cones where coffee is prepared fresh as ordered. I ordered the iced coffee their special iced coffee made New Orleans style with Chicory – super delicious!”
