Cherry Glazerr by Janell Shirtcliff

Local favorites White Fence and Cherry Glazerr have been confirmed for the April edition of First Fridays at the Natural History Museum.

Cherry Glazerr are a bunch of young’uns signed to the current kings of DIY power pop and garage rock Burger Records.

Their name was inspired by KCRW’s morning news host Chery Glaser.

I’ve had a few conversations with Chery about it and she is incredibly honored and flattered that, of all the folks at the station, they chose her. I think she blushes every time I bring it up.

She’s calls them “refreshingly enthusiastic” and kind of watches over them like a proud aunt. It’s adorable. (She also interviewed them here)

White Fence put out an exceptional album called “For The Recently Found Innocent” last summer.

The band is led by Tim Presley (formerly of another one of my fave LA bands – Darker My Love).

He is both incredibly prolific and collaborative, having released an album with Ty Segall as well as SIX studio albums with White Fence in just the last five years.

KCRW DJs Raul Campos and Anthony Valadez will keep the dance party going in the African Mammal Hall, while the Nerd Brigade holds court in the Science Salon.

Get there early and take it all in! Tickets are on sale now.

Also, the March edition of the series takes place THIS Friday, featuring JMSN and StarRo.

Enjoy StarRo’s track “Secret”, a favorite of DJ Garth Trinidad, as well as “Runaway” from JMSN, who counts DJ Chris Douridas among his fans.

DETAILS and TICKETS:

WHERE: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is located at 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, 90007.

TICKETS: General Admission: $18 | Museum Members: Free! (Limited tickets available)

General Admission tickets provide access to all that First Fridays has to offer, including the Museum after-hours, the guided tour, the scientist-led discussion, the DJ lounge, and the Concert Hall. They are all available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please be aware that event capacity is limited and likely to sell out. Purchase your tickets online before the day of the event as only a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
