Ariana is the lion in the middle

The Flaming Lips played the first of two sold out shows at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery last night.

It was dedicated to their 9th album “The Soft Bulletin” (“Race for the Prize”, “”A Spoonful Weighs a Ton,” etc) while tonight’s show will be devoted to their recent covers project “Dark Side of the Moon”.

Morning Becomes Eclectic producer Ariana Morgenstern was there – and on stage! More from her:

“I can’t believe I’m here at KCRW this morning after last night’s Flaming Lips show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which was the perfect setting for the band’s joie de vivre. I was in a friendly lion costume on stage, joined by other animals, as well as musicians from one of our favorite local bands, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

I was able to look out onto an energetic crowd filled with happy faces that fueled the band and dancers with love and joy. It was an amazing experience to be present while confetti blasted from ice cold cannons, watching Wayne Coyne grab his streamer ammo’d rifles and helping get those gigantic balloons sailing out into the crowd kept a big smile on my face and dancing all night!

LOVE THEM!”
