LA’s own Fol Chen has been consistently releasing lo-fi dance pop on the Asthmatic Kitty label (led by musician Sufjan Stevens) since 2009 and their latest effort, “The False Alarms”, is their best yet.

They’re one of DJ and music librarian Eric J Lawrence’s favorite local bands and he says they “bring such diverse 80’s influences as Prince, Michael Jackson, Scritti Politti to the 21st Century.”

The band will be performing a free show at the Hammer Museum this Thursday as part of KCRW’s Summer Nights series and, to celebrate, they’ve offered us an exclusive remix of the title track off their latest album.

The remix is by Robert Crouch, who is an electronic music artist as well as associate director/curator at LACE here in Los Angeles.

Stream The False Alarms (Robert Crouch Remix) below and download it here.

Here’s another current KCRW fave to sample. Details on the show here!
