Friendly Fires Live on KCRW

Written by

Friendly Fires’ new album “Pala” is the most played album at KCRW right now and, after seeming them play this morning, it’s easy to see why. It’s full of exuberant energy and is highly danceable. Simply, it’s fun.

LA is the last stop on the UK band’s U.S. tour and singer Ed Macfarlane had been up since 4am so they pulled out a pretty incredible performance, considering the high vocal lines and the workout drummer Jack Savidge seemed to be getting (he didn’t even fit into our drum booth, we had to reconfigure the studio!)

During the interview, Ed mentioned how they like to write and record in secluded places even though the resulting music is a celebration, the type of music that brings people together – especially on the dancefloor.

He called “Hurting” his favorite song on the new record and we must agree it is a standout. Watch the video above and Enjoy the full set in the archives here.
