KCRW DJ Gary Calamar will be part of a panel on the future of record stores and the evolution of music consumption tomorrow, Tuesday, May 18, at 7:30pm at the Grammy Museum at LA Live. The event is free but reservations are required: programs@grammymuseum.org.

Other panelists include former record store owner and New West Records Senior Vice President Peter Jesperson; Origami Vinyl owner Neil Schield; and recording artist Grant-Lee Philips. The panel will be moderated by journalist Phi Gallo, who recently co-wrote a book with Gary called “Record Store Days: From Vinyl to Digital and Back Again.”

I recently attended a Q&A and live performance session with The Hold Steady at the Museum. It was my first time there and I love all the pics of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. It’s a great excuse to go and look around!
