KCRW DJ Gary Calamar:

There was a book signing for my new book “Record Store Days” at Book Soup in Hollywood yesterday. My co-author Phil Gallo and I were blown away to find a full house of friends and fellow record geeks. Happily…or sadly — not sure which — many people were turned away without books as the store completely sold out! About 75 copies! It was also great to have a reunion with some of my colleagues from Licorice Pizza, the record store I worked out in the early 80’s. See pic below.

There is also a piece coming up on the book on NPR’s Weekend Edition, next Saturday I believe….USA Today too.

For those of you who are not familiar with Record Store Day(the holiday), it’s a great time to visit and support your local record store. Most stores will be having special promotions, in-store performances, and limited edition product. It’s like a trip to Disneyland…if great music were playing and Minnie Mouse had tattoos.
