James Blake by Larry Hirshowitz

By Betsy Moyer, KCRW’s Social Media Manager

With laughable ease James Blake reveals that translating his compositions to a live setting requires the work of more than what can be seen on stage. I was happy to be seated behind the sound engineer’s board to geek out along with the numerous KCRW DJs – who came out in numbers to see this session.

He closed out his first set with “Enough Thunder,” a perfect illustration of what the interview would indicate. James Blake fans can expect a “less idiosyncratic” body of work to make up the forthcoming EP, which Prefix reports will be out early October.

In addition, I was super excited for the nod towards further collaboration between the kid and KCRW fav Bon Iver.

Check out the full session here.

Watch Jame Blake perform “Enough Thunder“, the title track from the anticipated October 4 release with the same title.

Also, the live rendition of another favorite, “CMYK”

p.s.: DJ’s Anthony Valadez and Jeremy Sole were both documenting the session thanks to Instagram if you want to check out some more pics!
