From KCRW DJ Aaron Byrd:

James Blake is pioneering a new generation of blue-eyed soul…and like Mickey D’s, I’m loving it!

What’s even more impressive is his ability to stand alone in this contemporary landscape of auto-tune, microkorg, vocoder and other forms of electronically manipulated vocals. The 22-year-old British singer and pianist somehow still sounds fresh and innovative.

KCRW. His music has the unique ability to be as much a physical experience as a sonic one. It’s dark, deep, ethereal, melancholy, soulful, spacious…yet still seductive.

There’s no one who sounds or feels like James Blake, so I’m super excited to be opening up for him as he returns to LA for two nights at the Music Box on Sunday, September 18 & Monday, September 19.

The Sunday show is sold out but there are still a few tickets available for the Monday night show. I’ll also be giving away tickets on my KCRW program this week through my Twitter account. So if you want to check him out next Monday, follow me on Twitter @itsabyrd and tune in this Thursday night, Sept. 15 from 12-3am.

Just as heads up, he’ll also be in the studios of KCRW on Monday, Sept. 19 for a live performance on Morning Becomes Eclectic so make sure to tune in!

Blake will be releasing a new EP on October 10 titled “Enough Thunder” which feature a collaboration with Bon Iver and this latest single “Not Long Now“.
