If thousands of people out on the street enjoying art isn’t enough incentive to get you to join the party at the Downtown Art Walk this month, maybe this will help — KCRW’s own Anthony Valadez will be spinning! He will be on the decks from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, which acts as the official Art Walk Lounge and provides maps with the location of all the neighboring galleries you should check out. Anthony will also be playing the official after party at Exchange LA from 9 to 11pm, which is only $5 for KCRW members.
The Downtown Art Walk happens the second Thursday of every month (August 12) and there are endless FREE things to do. Following Anthony at the Lounge on the music front will be a DJ set from Marlon Fuentes (UCLA’s Jazz Reggae Festival) and a performance from Brazilian singer Andrea Ferraz. The LATC also hosts a sketch comedy show called “The Vault” from 8:15 to 9:30pm. The Los Angeles Theatre Center is located at 514 S. Spring Street and is in the center of all the action.
