KCRW Presents: From jazz to classic house: Kamasi Washington and A Night at the Paradise Garage

By  •

Think of this as an end-of-the-year-blowout post. There are only two shows left on our 2015 Presents calendar (minus 2 NYE parties, the details of which I’ll post later) so here it goes:

Tonight, Thursday, December 10, is Kamasi Washington’s night. The uber-talented saxophonist hails from South Central LA, and released a highly praised 3-disc album earlier this year on Brainfeeder.

Here’s a 14-minute jazz odyssey to give you an idea of what to expect at Club Nokia tonight:

Plus, before you’re on holiday lock-down with family, gifts and the buffet table, you’ll want to hit up the Palladium for A Night at Paradise Garage featuring DJs Joey Llanos, David Depino and Kenny Summit on Saturday, December 19. They’ll take you on a disco and classic house music stroll so you can party like it’s 1977 (just like they did at Larry Levan’s weekly parties in NYC).

Your December music/party planner via our KCRW Presents calendar:

Thursday, December 31: Prohibition NYE at Union Station
Thursday, December 31: Black Tie Masquerade Ball at Viceroy Santa Monica

Plus! KCRW members, we are giving away tickets to see Dilated Peoples during Raul Campos’ show this weekend! So tune in for your chance to win!!!
